Eindhoven Airport Noise Rules Explained

Eindhoven is amongst others known for its airport ‘Eindhoven airport’. Those who choose to live close to Eindhoven Airport will have to take account of the possible nuisance of overflying aircrafts. However, one local Dutch resident found that this nuisance had become too serious and demanded compensation of loss. The Dutch court of East Brabant disagreed: there is only room for compensation if the damage was not foreseeable at the time he bought his two houses in 1993 and 2009. Unfortunately for the resident the damage had been foreseeable as the noise standard was already known since 1979. And, despite an increase in flight movements from 18,000 to 30,000 movements, this noise standard had not been exceeded.
