IND application fees (leges) are the charges the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) levies for processing an application, such as a residence permit, an extension or naturalisation. The fees for residence applications are set in the Aliens Decree 2000 and the Aliens Regulation 2000 (Voorschrift Vreemdelingen 2000); naturalisation fees are based on the Netherlands Nationality Act.

How much are the IND fees?
The amount depends on the type of application and the purpose of stay. The fees are adjusted each year, usually on 1 January, and the IND publishes the current amounts on ind.nl. Always check the fee table for the year in which you apply.
When do you pay, and what if you don’t?
You pay when you submit the application or immediately afterwards. If the fee is not paid, or not paid on time, the IND does not process the application. For naturalisation, the decision period of one year only starts once the fee has been paid (article 9(4) Netherlands Nationality Act).
Do you get the fee back if the application is refused?
No. The fee covers the assessment, not the outcome. If an application is refused because, for example, a salary is just below the required threshold, the fee is lost and a new application means paying again. Checking an application carefully beforehand can therefore save money.
Who pays a reduced fee or no fee?
- Turkish nationals and their family members pay reduced fees under the EU-Turkey Association Agreement.
- Some applications, such as asylum applications, are free of charge.
IND fees are separate from the costs of legal assistance, which you agree with your lawyer.
