On January 1, a French law came into force on the basis of which employees may turn off their smartphones outside of working hours and thus may cut off the access to their work email. This measure is a consequence of the increased pressure of always having to be available and connected, which has resulted in a great amount of unpaid overtime and health issues. Large companies with 50 or more employees are required to negotiate with their employees about the specific rules that will apply to them. Will the Dutch follow?
